NYNC: Putting Thrive into Practice

MOON_WORSHIP

Hello!

After a month of freestyle blogging I have decided to come back to the idea of New Year New Consumer by adapting the ideas presented in Arianna Huffington’s book ‘Thrive‘ to suit Sustainability In Style.

New Year New Consumer (NYNC) was a series I developed back in January to look share the ways I was tackling consumption in my life. January was all about ‘simplifying’. An ironic theme for what happened to be one of the busiest months of my life in recent years. Happy to make it out in one piece, February ended up being a ‘brain break’ firstly because I was worried it would be as chaotic as January and any attempt of a theme would be half-assed, and secondly¬†because I was totally worn out.

Thankfully the gods of creativity brought me two wonderful books throughout my ‘The Artists’s Way’ journey and and one of which, Thrive, will be the theme for this month. For all the nitty gritty details of Thrive you can head here to the book review post (I recommend reading the actual book cover to cover at least once), but for this month we will be working on giving the four pillars of wellbeing, wisdom, wonder and giving. Welcoming them into our lives with a great big freaking hug and a freshly boiled kettle. Obviously we won’t be shunning the ideas of money and power completely, we will just ask them to continue doing their best to support our four new friends. Like polite hosts they can step aside and let the four take centre stage while they continue to buy groceries, do the laundry and change everyones¬†linen.

To be totally honest I have no idea of what a month of posts about wellbeing, wisdom, wonder, and giving will look like but there are ideas floating around up there somewhere. My fingers and the keyboard should be able to sort it our for us.

Hope that you join me on this adventure. It’s always fun to take the time to appreciate all the good things in life, the things that don’t often take centerstage in our busy, techno-filled lives.
