Lets Look to the Books.

Here are a few reads that I’ve added to my list or been revisiting this week.

Sand Talk: How Indigenous Thinking Can Save the World by Tyson Yunkaporta.  Curious to expand your understanding of Indigenous thinking? Tyson Yunkaporta, author of this revolutionary read, presents global systems from an Indigenous perspective.  This book covers everything from history, money, education and power using picture carvings and stories as communication tools. The read is a new one to my library and, as a visual communicator and learner, I’m really excited to dive on in. The table of contents is an image so I know I’m in for a paradigm shifting read!

Testosterone Rex: Unmaking the Myths of Our Gendered Minds by Cordelia Fine  You’ve probably heard it all before. You know- those stories about how women can’t read maps, or that men don’t listen. There’s LOADS of stories out there about how our brains differ if we are born male or female. But have you stopped to consider how much truth there is to these claims? This wonderful read from Cordelia Fine goes a long way (using science) to unpack the ‘nature vs. nurture’ debates to show the ways in which human brains are much the same regardless of gender. I found this book through a really enlightening podcast via “All in the Mind” you can listen to it here.
